On 23rd December 2020, BTOP Academy has received a total of 70 reference books donated by Syarikat Muda Osman (SMO) SDN BHD. The contribution was given by Tuan Haji Noor Hisham Yusoff, Executive Director of SMO SDN BHD, to Tuan Haji Rudie Yaakub, CEO of BTOP Academy. The books were distributed to the students of SMK Badak, Bachok, Kelantan on Friday (25th December 2020) to complement the programme “123 Boost Me Up”.
“123 Boost Me Up” by BTOP Academy is an initiative to give second chances for Form 5 students of SMK Badak who failed History and Malay Language subjects to improve their academics and to pass their Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) examination in early 2021.
Since March 2020, the Malaysian government has enforced the Movement Control Order (MCO). This also affected the students due to the closure of educational institutions nationwide. Majority of SMK Badak students, unfortunately, do not have adequate facilities to attend online classes, thus demotivating them in studying. Their parents are unable to afford tuition classes as well.
This is due to the fact that majority of the people from Bachok district, specifically in sub-district of Badak, Melawi, are within the B40 community, therefore the teenagers are prone to be involved in illicit activities as well. The programme “123 Boost Me Up” was introduced to help these youths to pass their SPM, at the same time preventing them from being involved in illicit activities.
This programme is divided into 3 sub-programmes, namely Intervention Class (IVC), Psychological Support Programme (PSP), and Community Resilience Programme (CRP). IVC is an intensive preparation for SPM. The programme is aimed to improve the students’ grades, specifically on the subjects History and Malay Language, since these two subjects are compulsory.
